The Complete Dumpster Rental Guide for Yuma, AZ — 2026 Edition

Everything you need to know about renting a roll-off dumpster in Yuma, Arizona — from choosing the right size to understanding what Yuma’s desert conditions mean for your project. One page, all the answers.

What Is a Roll-Off Dumpster?

A roll-off dumpster is a large, open-top rectangular container that gets delivered to your property on a specialized hooklift truck. The truck slides the container off its bed — that is the “roll-off” — and leaves it at your location. You fill it over your rental period. When you are done, you call and we haul it away.

Roll-off containers are measured in cubic yards — the volume of material they hold. A 10-yard container holds 10 cubic yards, a 20-yard holds 20, and so on. They are different from the small, wheeled dumpsters you see behind restaurants and apartment buildings — those are permanent trash containers on a different service model.

Choosing the Right Container Size

Getting the size right before delivery saves you from two frustrating situations: ordering too small and needing a second container, or ordering too large and paying for space you did not need.

Dumpster container size comparison showing 10-yard, 20-yard, 30-yard, 40-yard, and lowboy containers
ContainerVolumeTruck LoadsWeight LimitBest For
10-yard10 cu yd~3 loads2 tonsSingle room, small cleanout, small demo
20-yard20 cu yd~6 loads3 tonsGarage cleanout, roof replacement, estate clearout, remodel
30-yard30 cu yd~9 loads4 tonsFull home renovation, large estate, commercial project
40-yard40 cu yd~12 loads5 tonsLarge commercial, multi-phase project, maximum volume
LowboyVariableN/A10,000 lbsConcrete, caliche, pool demo, block walls, DG, river rock

The Yuma sizing rule: Most standard Yuma residential projects — garage cleanouts, roof replacements on homes up to 2,200 sq ft, estate clearouts, and kitchen or bath remodels — fit in a 20-yard container. When in doubt, size up. A second delivery costs more than the price difference between a 20-yard and a 30-yard.

The lowboy rule: Any project involving concrete, caliche, decomposed granite, CMU block, river rock, pool demolition, or heavy hardscape material requires the lowboy — not a standard roll-off. These materials exceed standard weight limits before the container looks even one-third full.

The Rental Process — Four Steps

Dumpster rental in Yuma works the same way on every job:

Step 1 — Call and book. Call (928) 268-6454. Tell us your address, what you are throwing out, and when you need delivery. We confirm the right size, give you a flat price, and lock in the delivery window. Takes about five minutes.

Step 2 — We deliver. Our hooklift truck arrives and places the container at your specified location. We put wooden driveway boards under the container on every delivery to protect your concrete or pavers. You do not need to be home.

Step 3 — You fill it. Load debris into the container over your 7-day rental window. Keep everything below the fill line — the top edge of the container sidewalls. That is a legal transport requirement on Arizona roads.

Step 4 — Call for pickup. When you are done, call or text us. We schedule pickup within 24 hours. The container goes to the South Yuma County transfer station for disposal.

What Can and Cannot Go In

Accepted in standard roll-off containers:

Household furniture and junk, moving boxes, construction and demolition debris (drywall, lumber, flooring), roofing shingles, yard waste, tree branches, palm fronds, brush, cactus (bagged), carpeting, appliances with Freon removed, metal and scrap, cabinetry, general cleanout items.

Accepted in lowboy only:

Concrete, CMU block, brick, caliche, decomposed granite, river rock, asphalt, adobe, large stone pavers.

Prohibited in any container:

Freon-containing appliances (AC units and refrigerators with refrigerant inside), liquid paint, motor oil and automotive fluids, batteries, electronics, hazardous chemicals, pool chemicals, tires, propane tanks, asbestos materials, medical waste.

Yuma-specific prohibited item notes:

Old AC units:

Yuma’s extreme heat destroys air conditioning systems faster than almost anywhere in the US. Old AC units and refrigerators with refrigerant inside are one of the most common prohibited items on Yuma jobs. Federal law under EPA Section 608 requires a certified HVAC technician to remove the Freon before the unit can go in a container. Once serviced, the empty unit goes in.

Pool chemicals:

Yuma has high pool ownership. Pool chemicals — chlorine tablets, shock, algaecides — are strictly prohibited. Take them to a Yuma County Household Hazardous Waste collection event.

Oleander:

Very common Yuma hedge plant — toxic to humans and animals. Cannot go in city green waste or composting. Goes in the roll-off container only.

Delivery Logistics in Yuma

Clearance requirements: Our truck needs 60 feet of straight-line clearance to approach and place the container, and 23 feet of vertical clearance. Check for power lines, tree branches, and carport beams — carport structures are very common in older Yuma homes and can create vertical clearance issues.

Driveway protection: We place thick wooden boards under every container before it touches your concrete or pavers. This distributes the weight and prevents cracking or surface marking. Every delivery, every time.

You do not need to be home. We need a clear path, an open gate or access code if the property is gated, and the container placement location. Leave a note if you have a specific preference for door direction or positioning.

HOA and gated communities: Many Yuma communities — particularly in Fortuna Foothills — are HOA-governed. Provide gate codes when you book. Check your CC&Rs for container placement duration and direction requirements before booking.

Same-day delivery is available Monday through Saturday for orders placed before noon. Most Yuma, Fortuna Foothills, Somerton, and San Luis addresses are same-day. Wellton and Winterhaven are typically next-day.

Permit Rules in Yuma

Private property: No permit needed. Driveway or yard placement — no paperwork, same-day booking available.

Street placement: A right-of-way permit from the City of Yuma Community Development and Engineering Department is required. Processing takes 1 to 5 business days. Fees range from $10 to $150.

Fortuna Foothills (unincorporated): Street placement permit comes from Yuma County Development Services — not the City of Yuma.

HOA: Separate from city permit. Check your CC&Rs for container rules in addition to any permit requirement.

Yuma-Specific Factors You Need to Know

Yuma is not a typical dumpster rental market. These local factors affect how you plan and size your project:

Yuma-specific dumpster rental factors including caliche hardpan, extreme heat, monsoon season, and snowbird season

Caliche Hardpan

Any excavation in Yuma County hits caliche — a calcium-rich hardened soil layer that weighs approximately 100 pounds per cubic foot. It looks like regular dirt but handles like rock. Any project involving excavation, landscaping dig-down, or irrigation installation will encounter it. Caliche goes in the lowboy only.

Extreme Heat and Concrete Cracking

Yuma’s average July high exceeds 106 degrees Fahrenheit — one of the highest in the US. This heat causes thermal expansion cycling that cracks concrete driveways, slabs, and pool shells faster than in most climates. Driveway and pool concrete replacement are common Yuma projects. Both require the lowboy.

Monsoon Season

Monsoon season runs June 15 through September 30. Intense short-burst rainfall — sometimes an inch or more in a matter of hours — on Yuma’s caliche hardpan soil (which does not absorb water well) causes pooling and flooding even from small rain events. After major storms like Tropical Storm Lorena in September 2025, post-storm cleanup demand spikes significantly. Emergency same-day delivery is available during active storm events.

Snowbird Season

Approximately 90,000 seasonal residents occupy Yuma from November through April. Every spring, park models and winter homes are cleared as snowbirds head north. March through May is the peak estate and property cleanout season in Yuma. Book early during this window.

Military Community

MCAS Yuma and Yuma Proving Ground generate consistent PCS move-out cleanout demand. Military families clearing housing on PCS timelines need fast delivery — same-day is available for most Yuma addresses when you call before noon.
